Information
Aki-Home is a retailer of furniture and furnishings for the Home. It all began in 1967, when our founder, Akio Nitori, opened a small furniture store on the Japanese northern Island of Hokkaido. His tiny store was about 1,000 square feet and served the local community in Sapporo (4th largest city in Japan). These were busy days and uncertain times for the retail entrepreneur, but Akio Nitori continued to look forward and search for ways to grow his new venture. Today, Nitori is Japan’s premier place to shop for furniture and home furnishings. With over 300 stores and growing, Nitori stores have provided the Japanese consumer ways to coordinate their homes with style, affordability, and convenience. His winning strategy paved the way for expansion beyond Japan with 16 new stores in Taiwan. His new vision, Aki-Home was unveiled to the American consumer on October 19th, 2013. The first two stores opened in Tustin and Fullerton, California.
