The James Blackstone Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public library located in the heart of Branford, Connecticut. The library was founded by Timothy Blackstone, a successful railroad president in Chicago, Illinois, and named in honor of his father, James, who had grown up in Branford. Construction began in 1893 and was completed in 1896. The Blackstone Library’s mission is to provide essential access to information, resources, and unique shared experiences to help ensure Branford is an educated and enriched community.
