The Celtic Fringe

What is the Celtic Fringe? First appearing in ancient history in the 8th century BC, the earliest known Celtic people dwelt in the Austrian mountains and are identified as the Halstatt culture. This largely migratory mountain dwelling people would move over the next 2000 years to populate and assimilate large portions of the European Continent. Following the rise of the Roman Empire and the subsequent Roman conquest of the British Isles, the Celts were pushed to the furthest western regions of the continent. These territories, on the edge of Europe, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean are now referred to as the Celtic Fringe. As the modern era dawned the Celtic peoples have continued their migratory ways. Celtic heritage has migrated across the Atlantic and has influenced much of the culture of the new world. From Nova Scotia and Montreal in Canada, to Patagonia in Argentina, and all of the United States the influence of the Celtic peoples continue to be experienced. It is our desire to bring the vast culture and cuisine of this historic people to our restaurant and to our neighbors in Reidsville and Rockingham County.
