Description
Information
Set within a three-acre landscaped estate in the picturesque shoreline community of Madison, Connecticut, Beech Tree Cottages is the ideal destination for short excursions, weekly getaways, romantic weekends or family vacations. Offering guests a unique alternative to the hotel lodging experience, Beech Tree Cottages aims to revive a classic American travel tradition. Originally built in the 1940s as a seaside retreat, Beech Tree Cottages was lovingly restored and has remained family owned and operated since 2001. The site was originally operated by the property's previous owners, Edmund and Christine Joecks, who built and ran the then Seaview Cabins and later Colonial Motel along with a small service station and ice house called The Little Station from the 1940s to the 1980s. As the years wore on, the cabins and outbuildings sat vacant and were left to the weather, waiting for a lick of paint and a breath of fresh air. In 1997, innkeepers and restaurateurs Craig and Linda Talmadge purchased the distressed property at 1187 Boston Post Road and re-opened the seasonal cabins to guests in the summer of 2001 as Beech Tree Cottages. Over the years, the Talmadges and their four children have lovingly restored and renovated the main house, seven cottage buildings, old garage, and three acre grounds through many months of dedication, hard work, and yankee ingenuity. Beech Tree Cottages now features a collection of eight seasonal cottages tastefully decorated with coastal New England style in mind, offering modern amenities and vintage comforts at reasonable rates. The business is managed and maintained by the family, providing old-fashioned hospitality as they welcome guests into their home. Opened for the 2012 season, The Little Station now houses the main office and boutique gift shop. On summer weekends you may find CT's Roadside BBQ food truck parked out front offering authentic barbecue smoked in a '65 chevy.
