The Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development works to stimulate the local economy by helping businesses to grow and optimizing life experiences for residents and visitors. It seeks to achieve a unique sense of place for each of the 27 local municipalities it serves; expand transportation options; diversify employment; reuse idled properties creatively; utilize green energy; preserve open space and farmland; support educational and cultural institutions; protect and promote Lake St. Clair; promote and expand the Macomb Orchard Trail and a county-wide network of greenways.
