GENCI poursuit trois missions : - porter la stratégie nationale d'équipement en moyens de calcul intensif au bénéfice de la recherche scientifique française en lien avec les trois centres nationaux de calcul ; - soutenir la réalisation d'un écosystème intégré du calcul intensif à l'échelle européenne ; - promouvoir la simulation numérique et le calcul intensif auprès de la recherche académique et des industriels. Created in 2007, GENCI is working to increase the use of numerical simulation and high performance computing (HPC) in boosting competitiveness within the French economy, across all scientific and industrial fields. GENCI, Grand Equipement National de Calcul Intensif, is a legal entity taking the form of a «société civile» under French law, owned for 49 % by the French State represented by the Ministry for Higher Education and Research, for 20 % by CEA, 20 % by CNRS, 10 % by the Universities and 1% by INRIA.
