Raman Research Institute is a premier research Institution located in Bangalore, India. Sir C.V. Raman, an Indian physicist, and Nobel Laureate founded the Raman Research Institute in 1948 to pursue his studies and basic research. The Institute has a rich heritage and conducts cutting edge research in frontier areas of Physics under contemporary research themes. The research in fundamental sciences is in selected frontier themes of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Light and Matter Physics, Soft Condensed Matter and Theoretical Physics. The research work includes Physics of Living Matter, Quantum Information and quantum enabled technologies. The institute offers a comprehensive Ph.D programme, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship programme, Research Assistant and Visiting Student programme. The research at the institute is ably supported by the Electronics Engineering Services, Mechanical Engineering Services and other facilities. The institutes campus has landscaped greenery including a variety of species from near and far, patches of wilderness tended only by nature, together with the laboratories, workspaces, and facilities which provides sylvan settings for engaging in scholarly pursuits.
