The International Motorsports Association, LLC (IMSA) is the premier sports car racing series in North America. The current sanctioning body was formed in 2013 due to a merger of Grand-Am Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series after being originally formed in 1969 and is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2019. The series features the involvement of 19 manufacturers including Acura, Alfa Romeo, AMG-Mercedes, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mazda, McLaren, Mini, Nissan and Porsche. The sanctioning body leads seven motorsport platforms including the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the premier sports car racing series in North America. It also sanctions the IMSA Challenge and the IMSA Prototype Challenge Presented, as well as four one-make series: Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama; Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama; Ferrari Challenge North America; and Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. The heart-thumping action of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes place 12 weekends a year. Others include street circuits in Long Beach and Detroit, Mid-Ohio SportsCar Course, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Lime Rock Park, Road America, VIRginia International Raceway and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. IMSA – a company within the NASCAR family – is the exclusive strategic partner in North America with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) which operates the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a part of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The partnership enables selected IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competitors to earn automatic entries into the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.
