The Young AFCEAns (known as the YACs) provides a casual environment for AFCEA members age 40 or under to engage professionally, exchange ideas, give back to the community and-most importantly-have fun! And, just like more senior AFCEA members, they network with fellow professionals and participate in the normal activities of the Chapter. #YACING @YAC_CMDThe Central Maryland YACs focus on three core initiatives: professional development, community outreach and social events:PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT events provide opportunities for all AFCEA members (government, military and industry) to build and enhance their skills. The Young AFCEAns engage with highly regarded, senior professionals who are looking to share their knowledge and experience with developing professionals. Each of these sessions is conducted outside of the confines of the typical work environment, as a collaboration between government, industry and academia.COMMUNITY OUTREACH benefits the community and strengthens the overall Young AFCEAns organization. The YACs work closely with the Chapter's Scientific Education Committee, supporting local schools by judging science fairs, mentoring students, supporting robotics teams and competitions, and participating in Adopt-a-School activities.SOCIAL EVENTS are a fun way for government, academia, and industry to engage socially and build relationships. The YACs sponsor or support several Chapter events such as golf tournaments, the Bull Roast and Silent Auction, and the Valentine's Gala. They also organize events such as happy hours, outings to local athletic events and other exciting activities. Twice annually, the YAC group holds a Mentorship Night, where Senior members of the community spend an evening with YAC members, sharing career lessons learned within a collaborative environment. So if you are age 40 or under and would like to join us, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
