Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA)

The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA) monitors the air in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We do this through a number of air, land and human exposure monitoring programs. Mission WBEA monitors air quality and air quality related environmental impacts to generate accurate and transparent information which enables stakeholders to make informed decisions. Company Overview WBEA is a not-for-profit association that operates a network of continuous air monitoring stations and a number of air, land and human exposure monitoring programs. Description The environmental monitoring work that WBEA is conducting generates scientifically sound and accurate information, which in turn allows key stakeholders – such as government and regulators – to make informed environmental management decisions. General Information WBEA is made up of 37 member organizations, including representatives from 3 levels of government, environmental non-government organizations, industry and First Nations. WBEA's environmental monitoring work is the most integrated and intensive focus linking air and terrestrial monitoring in any one area, anywhere in Canada.
