Warwick Congress

Warwick Congress is a student run initiative enthused by the ambition to educate students from all backgrounds and interests. Our mission is to unite the disciplines of Finance, Economics, Law and Politics to a single platform thus allowing students to gain a holistic perspective of the world surrounding us today. We found a significant void in the market concerning events encompassing both academic and career focused elements. We aim to bridge this gap by inviting influential speakers to analyse current affair topics from the perspectives of the four cornerstone-subjects, followed by distinctly separate networking opportunities. Through Warwick Congress, we hope to inspire and motivate students from a myriad of backgrounds to take an interest in not only how the four disciplines shape the society, but also to spark or strengthen a passion into a variety of career paths.Our team is comprised of over 50 intelligent and motivated students, who have brought this concept to life through #WarCon17. Our first conference took place in February 2017 and focused on the topics of the Environment, Technology, and Europe. At the conference, 12 high calibre speakers such as Sir Vince Cable (Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Former Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills), Simon Levin (co-CEO of DLA Piper), and Tony Cocker (CEO of E.ON) brought insight to these contentious issues.In 2018, we brought the topics of Social Media and Global Trade with the overarching theme of Innovation. Speakers included Michael Lewis (CEO of E.ON UK) and Gavin Hewitt (BBC News Editor) who enlightened the audience on these contentious issues.This year our theme is "The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Where is humanity headed" which will explore the impact that future technology, such as A.I., will have on the 4 disciplines. Speakers include Brigette Hyancith (Author and LinkedIn superstar) and Mike Rebeiro (Head of Innovation at Macfarlanes LLP).#WarCon19.
