Established in 1968, Maine’s public university system enrolls more than 40,000 students annually at seven universities, a law school, eight centers, and 75 distance learning sites. Nearly two-thirds of its alumni -- 120,000 people -- live in Maine.

On average, 5,300 students graduate each year, and an estimated 120,000 alumni live in Maine and contribute to the quality of life in their local communities.
