About University of Eastern Finland

The University of Eastern Finland (UEF), headquartered at Yliopistonranta 1, Kuopio, is one of Finland's largest and most dynamic universities, boasting approximately 16,000 students and a dedicated staff of around 3,200. Established in 2010 through the merger of the University of Joensuu and the University of Kuopio, UEF operates across two vibrant campuses in Joensuu and Kuopio. As a multidisciplinary institution, UEF offers a diverse range of over 100 major subjects, organized into four faculties: the Philosophical Faculty, the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies.

UEF is committed to addressing pressing global challenges through its key interdisciplinary research areas, which focus on themes such as ageing, lifestyles and health; learning in a digitised society; cultural encounters, mobilities and borders; and environmental change and the sufficiency of natural resources.
