Transitional Paths to Independent Living affirms Liberty and Justice for all people with disabilities.TRANSITIONAL PATHS TO INDEPENDENT LIVING (TRPIL) advocates for the civil rights of people with disabilities and promotes independent living in Southwestern Pennsylvania communities. Our programs assist people with disabilities in leading independent and productive lives.These services include peer support, independent living skills training, information & referral, advocacy, and transitions (from unwelcome nursing home stays to one’s own home in the community or for youth leaving high school for a career or post-secondary education). That means TRPIL provides information and experience to people with disabilities regarding the challenges that they may face in access to goods and services, schooling, housing, home modifications, transportation, civil rights, and employment.We also provide training and placement of direct care workers who assist consumers with their daily living requirements (getting out of bed, personal hygiene, meals, getting to appointments, grocery shopping, and light housekeeping).
