Established in 1998 by Toronto City Council, the Toronto Youth Cabinet is the official youth advisory body to the City of Toronto. Mission The Toronto Youth Cabinet is a youth-led civic engagement advocacy body. Through outreach, engagement and training, the TYC provides a critical gathering place for diverse young people interested in making change within a municipal governance context. The cabinet works together with City Councillors, City departments, community groups, and youth serving organizations to build an equitable, youth-friendly Toronto. Who we are The Toronto Youth Cabinet has an official mandate to advocate for Toronto’s 320,000 youth at City Hall. Members of TYC build dynamic relationships with City Council, City staff, and the youth community to make sure that Toronto’s youth are empowered and engaged in municipal decisions that impact their lives. As a youth run organization, the TYC provides a place for young people to voice themselves in municipal affairs. Who can join The TYC is open to ALL youth between the ages of 13-24 who currently live, work, or learn in the City of Toronto. New members are always welcome, and the membership is always free.
