WHAT WE DO

Toronto Hydro owns and operates the electricity distribution system for Canada's largest city. Recognized as a Sustainable Electricity Company™ since 2014, it has approximately 779,000 customers located in the city of Toronto and distributes approximately 18% of the electricity consumed in Ontario.

Through planned investments in neighbourhoods throughout the city, our nearly 1,400 employees are working hard to maintain safe and reliable infrastructure, help support a growing city, enable clean energy, and prepare for and respond to extreme weather.

Toronto Hydro is a for-profit corporation wholly owned by the City of Toronto. We own and operate approximately $5 billion of capital assets, including:

• 180,000 poles
• 15,480 circuit km of overhead wires
• 13,407 circuit km of underground wires
• 60,780 distribution transformers
• 144 municipal substations
