Thompson Austin and tommie Austin will make their debut downtown in the music and entertainment district this summer. Thompson Austin offers 212 guestrooms and suites plus 17 residences along with a 6,700 square foot wellness center, a signature restaurant + bar concept by Land & Sea Department (open to the public) which will include indoor/outdoor dining, a game area and tasting room. An expansive pool deck is flanked by cabanas and 5,000 sf of additional event space. 6,000 sf of ballroom and meeting space sits on the 2nd floor. Both hotels are anchored on the ground floor by The Diner Bar + The Grey Market, by partners Mashama Bailey and Johno Morisano of Savannah’s critically acclaimed The Grey. The restaurants play off of the duo’s take on Port-City Southern Food while seizing additional inspiration from regional ingredients and local Texan flavors. The Diner Bar is an all-day, full-service restaurant and bar with a lively, convivial spirit in the hotel’s lobby, while The Grey Market takes similar inspiration from its original Savannah location as a community gathering place with counter-service, grab-and-go items and provisions. Bailey and Morisano collaborated for a third time with James Beard Award-winning creative firm Parts & Labor, a partner with them in The Grey Market, on the design of both spaces.
