The Urban Assembly, Inc.

The Urban Assembly is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underserved youth by providing them with the academic and life skills necessary for postsecondary success. We create and support unique, small public schools that are open to all students, scale up promising programs, and coordinate with hundreds of partner organizations in the private, public, non-profit and higher education sectors. Our goal is to prepare 100% of our graduates for success in the 21st century economy through rigorous college preparation and cutting-edge career and technical education. The Urban Assembly believes that demography should not determine a young person's destiny and that a first class public education is a basic human right. Our schools are open to all students and serve a population of predominantly at-risk, under-resourced youth. Across The Urban Assembly schools group: 85% of students are low-income 83% of 9th graders and 79% of 6th graders enter below grade level in at least one subject 21% of middle school students and 20% of high school students require Individualized Education Plans 51% of students are Latino, 40% are African American, 5% are Asian, and 3% are White 11% of middle school students and 6% of high school students are English Language Learners (ELLs) In the 2015-16 school year, the Urban Assembly is serving over 9,000 students through 21 small, public middle and high schools, including seven Career & Technical Education (CTE) schools and three all-girls schools.
