Responsible for issues related to workforce development, labor relations, worker safety, and jobless benefits, the agency plays a vital role in the economic health and growth of the Commonwealth. EOLWD comprises five departments: • The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) administers the Unemployment Insurance Program for unemployed Massachusetts workers. • The Department of Career Services (DCS) oversees Massachusetts' network of One-Stop Career Centers, providing job seekers with career guidance, training, and job referrals. • The Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) manages the state’s Workers' Compensation system. • The Department of Labor Standards (DLS) protects workers' health and safety through education, training, and workplace assessment. • The Department of Labor Relations (DLR) investigates and adjudicates unfair labor practice charges and mediates labor disputes between employers and unions.
