Suomen Palloliitto - Football Association Of Finland

The Football Association of Finland (Suomen Palloliitto – Finlands Bollförbund or SPL-FBF) is the governing body of football in Finland. It was founded in Helsinki in 1907 and the following year the SPL-FBF was admitted to FIFA. The SPL-FBF organizes national football and futsal teams, and all domestic competitions except the men’s premier division (Veikkausliiga), which is organized by a distinct organization. Lower tiers (the fourth tier and below) are organized by the 11 district organisations. Today, the number of registered football players in Finland is 140 000. In addition to that, over 500 000 people weekly play football in clubs and schools or are involved as coaches, officials and volunteers.
