HISTORY
The Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District (SEPRD) is a special taxing district that was formed by Seaside voters on February 14, 1969. It remained a Park & Recreation District in name only for the next eight years while the community raised enough funds to build Sunset Pool, the foundation of SEPRD.
Over the years, the District has added facilities such as the Seaside Youth Center and the Bob Chisholm Community Center, broadening its ability to meet the needs of an ever changing demand for quality aquatic, recreational, youth and Senior oriented services and programming.
SEPRD boundaries follow that of the Seaside School District with the exception of the Cities of Gearhart and Cannon Beach.
