The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is the state-owned oil and natural gas corporation in Azerbaijan engaged in upstream, midstream and downstream activity, as well as natural gas supply and sale of petrochemical products in domestic and international markets. As legal entities, three production unions, two petroleum and a gas refinery, oil fleet, deep water jackets’ plant, two trusts, 22 subdivisions, including one institution, operate under SOCAR. Joint ventures (including ones in Georgia and Turkey), alliances, and operation companies, established with participation of SOCAR operate in various spheres of oil and gas industry. SOCAR has representative offices in Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, UK, Iran, Germany, and Ukraine, and trading companies – in Switzerland, Singapore, Vietnam and Nigeria. SOCAR oversees the international consortia that is developing new oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan. SOCAR employs more than 70,000 people. Most employees are nationals in Azerbaijan.
