St. Colmcilles GFC , based in East Meath, is concerned with the provision of Gaelic games to girls, boys, men and women in the area. Our scope extends to engagement and interaction with all members of our community, in the form our Healthy Club initiative. We take our responsibility in the community seriously and are advocates for the positive development of our locality, for the benefit of all its inhabitants, whether or not they are involved with St. Colmcilles. We are the proud to say we're the largest club in Leinster, outside of Dublin. We have a very active Juvenile section and have (at last count) 59 teams representing our club at various levels, age groups and games. Our Sunday Academy, sees the arrival every Sunday morning of up to 300 children, aged 4 – 10 years old, in Piltown to learn the skills of the game. The ethos of our academy is one of fun and enjoyment. Our Adult teams have gone from strength to strength, with both men and women, senior and minor winning county titles in 2016. Our adult men brought our whole community to Croke Park in February for the All Ireland Intermediate final, and lost by a point but never was such a community bond seen before in the area. We've been recognised nationally for our Healthy Club initiative, which started in 2012 and has grown from strength to strength since. The healthy club committee provide entertainment, education, and a social outlet to members of our community and not just those involved in Gaelic games. We’re ardent fundraisers, as our members will lay testament to! Any and all monies that we raise are invested back into the club. Last year we invested in an on-site gym for the use of all of our members. Previous investments include our car park, our astro turf and upgrades to our clubhouse. It is our plan, over the next 5 years, to extend our current facilities and to keep buying equipment, jerseys and training material for our teams.
