Sport Zone is the largest sports retail company in Portugal, started its activity in 1997 and since then has been dedicated to promoting sports by offering the best sports goods and sportswear at competitive prices. In stores, Sport Zone offers leading sport brands such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, PUMA, New Balance, OUTPACE, Saucony, DOONE, Billabong, Rip Curl, Deeply, Hurley, TOM TOM, GARMIN, SALOMON, BERG Outdoor, BERG Cycles, SCOTT, CUBE and a wide product range that covers sports and outdoor activities. Its product development teams are focused in innovation and design, so that Sport Zone can offer technology in fashionable products with competitive prices. In 2014, Sport Zone began a store revolution, by implementing a new concept where Key Sports, such as Running, Football and Fitness have premium areas and digital communication is dominant, with this new approach Sport Zone improves customer experience and reinforces its positioning as a sports specialist . Sport Zone is owned by the largest private non financial Portuguese group – Sonae Group with more than 40.000 employees in 29 countries. Initially this retail company was created to address the portuguese market but its strategy changed after 10 years of existence. Pursuing a growth strategy, Sport Zone began an internationalization process in 2008, by opening the first store in Madrid, having now over 30 stores in Spain. After 18 years of activity and 111 stores in Portugal and Spain, most of them located in the best Shopping Centers, new markets are being studied in order to keep achieving growth goals.
