SOS Children's Villages Pakistan is a private social welfare organization affiliated with the world's largest orphan and abandoned children charity: SOS Children's Villages International.SOS Children's Villages Pakistan was established in 1975, and is the largest private child welfare organization in the country. SOS Children's Villages meets the needs of children and their families in 15 locations in Pakistan. When children can no longer stay with their families, they can find a loving home in one of the SOS families.Over 50 projects have been established nationwide, of which over 25 are exclusively for orphans. The remaining are community schools, technical training centres, health centres etc. SOS Pakistan is completely autonomous and affiliated with SOS Children’s Villages International, based in Austria, which is the largest orphan care organization in the world.The philosophy of SOS is very basic - to provide orphaned and abandoned children with a family, a home and loving care. The children are enabled to live normal lives, and are provided with a secure environment and all necessary facilities, so that they can get a fair chance in life and develop to their full potential.No deserving child is ever refused admission. All children are provided the opportunity for higher education or skill training, according to their aptitude. Hundreds of children, who have grown up in SOS Children's Villages around the country, are now self-reliant and productive members of society. Members of the SOS family can be found in the armed forces, banking sector, medical and engineering professions, technical fields, the service industry and many others.SOS community schools educate over 7400 SOS children and disadvantaged children. Over 6000 children have graduated from the SOS Technical Training and Automobile Training Institutes.New projects and the maintenance costs of the children, are financed through the support of private individuals, philanthropists, foundations and the corporate sector. SOS Children's Villages Pakistan is proud to be the only country, outside Europe, which is self-financing. The generosity of the citizens of Pakistan reflects their awareness of social responsibility and compassion towards the less fortunate and disadvantaged.
