About SOS Children's Villages Illinois

SOS Children's Villages Illinois is a dedicated nonprofit child welfare agency committed to serving the most vulnerable children and families across the state. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, at 216 W. Jackson Boulevard, Suite 925, the organization operates under a unique model of care that emphasizes the importance of family and community. This model, part of a 67-year international tradition, is implemented in over 550 SOS Children’s Villages across 134 countries, ensuring that children can live together with their siblings, receive support from professionally trained Foster Parents, and grow up in nurturing, private single-family homes.

Currently, SOS Children's Villages Illinois manages four sites, including three Villages designed for sibling group foster care: an 18-home Village in Lockport (opened in 1993), a 19-home Village in the Auburn Gresham/Englewood neighborhood of Chicago (opened in 2004), and a 14-home Village in the Roosevelt Square Community of Chicago (opened in 2014). Additionally, the organization operates Casa Tepeyac, acquired in 2011, which provides preventative and in-home services in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago.

The impact of SOS Children's Villages Illinois is profound, boasting a remarkable 100% high school graduation rate for its youth, significantly higher than the national average of 50% for children in foster care. Recognized for its excellence, the organization was named one of the “Best Charities in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine in November 2015. Through its innovative approach to child welfare, SOS Children's Villages Illinois continues to transform lives and build brighter futures for children in need.
