In Japanese, teppan means an “iron plate” or a “steel sheet,” and yaki, “stir-fried food” or “stir-frying.” The teppanyaki and hibachi styles, come together to create a mouth-watering form of cuisine that continues to increase in popularity in the New York region and across the nation. Shiro, the Japanese word for “castle,” was selected for its imagery and desire to provide exceptional food and service. An image of the largest remaining medieval castle in Japan was chosen for the restaurant’s logo.
