Seoul Flyers

The Seoul Flyers consists of over 3,000 members from 34 countries who share a common interest: running. To call The Flyers a running club falls short. Koreans remain active members as long as they like. With few exceptions, visa restrictions limit expat members to less than two active years. New members arrive weekly to backfill the departed. The club survives despite constant turnover; moreso, it thrives because of it. The expat experience forges deep bonds quickly. Members share experiences and frustration as a form of therapy. Observing Flyer comrades depart permanently the country keeps the end ever in sight; a reminder to make the most of your time. With these realizations, members work to preserve the club as something more than a collection of individuals. The club maintains a sixteen-seat board, with four officer positions. Dozens of members volunteer annually to put on over forty club-sponsored events.
