Supreme Commission for Tourism (SCT) was established 2000 AD. When the Antiquities and Museums agency has been under the SCT, the name has been changed to Saudi Commission For Tourism & Antiquities ( SCTA ).
Saudi Arabia's tourism vision, in the first place is based on its moral, social and cultural dimensions.
All the segments and sectors of the Saudi society were the key determinants of this vision. Kingdom’s tourism vision is based on a comprehensive framework of policies and principles of sustainability, economic feasibility, Kingdom’s social, cultural, environmental realities, true Islamic values and heritage, and its traditional hospitality.
Kingdom's Tourism Vision
The future vision of the Kingdom regarding tourism sector, is based on the following theme: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the land of Islam, seeks for variable and distinguished tourism development to generate social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits to its citizens in the framework of its Islamic values and traditional hospitality".
Kingdom's Interest in Tourism
Saudi Arabia, concerned with its traditional values and unique parameters, strives to achieve a balanced and sustainable development of tourism, which has to be economically diverse, socially enriching and creates employment opportunities for its citizens, while preserving its environmental and cultural authenticity.
