San Diego Theatres is a 501(c)3 non-profit, public benefit corporation established to manage and operate publicly-owned performing arts theatres. San Diego Theatres manages and operates the publicly-owned San Diego Civic Theatre and the historic Balboa Theatre. The Civic Theatre management is provided under the terms of an operating agreement with the City of San Diego. The Balboa Theatre management is provided under the terms of a lease agreement entered into with the City of San Diegoâs Redevelopment Agency. San Diego Theatres strives to positively impact the community through effective stewardship of publicly-owned performing arts venues, and the advancement of facility improvements, a downtown theatre district, and strategic partnerships for the enrichment of the performing arts for the benefit of the region. San Diego Theatres was established in 2003 by the San Diego Convention Center Corporation as a subsidiary non-profit corporation. San Diego Theatres is ethically driven, fiscally sound, and strategically focused, while fostering an environment that instills advocacy, awareness, and a wide-spread participation in San Diegoâs performing arts.
