Description
Information
As an integral part of the Canadian Marine Search and Rescue system, RCM-SAR's Mission is to provide a volunteer marine rescue service and to promote public Boating Safety throughout the Pacific Region of Canada. RCM-SAR's SAR area includes more than 29,500 square kilometres of coastline, 6,500 islands, and approximately 450,000 square kilometres of internal and offshore waters. It is a challenge to provide SAR response capability to such a large area, and our volunteers meet the challenge with determination and professionalism. We are a marine SAR resource which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If necessary, our volunteers are willing and ready to risk their lives to help anyone in distress on the water. We have more than 1100 members and maintain 46 SAR stations in the Pacific Region. On average we receive more than 800 calls per year and assist more than 700 people each year.
