About Rockford Rescue Mission
At Rockford Rescue Mission, we take a holistic approach to caring for our guests and clients. While we may start with offering a hot meal and a safe place to sleep, our services are designed to serve physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational needs. Our desire is to empower people to move from despair and hopelessness to hope and life-change. Our services include case management, medical, and dental treatment, counseling, life skills classes, spiritual mentoring, educational assessment, vocational training, and transition back into society.
While Rockford Rescue Mission is recognized as the area’s largest and longest-standing provider of assistance to the homeless, near-homeless, addicted and working poor, many in the community aren’t aware of the full scope of our programs and services:
Rockford Rescue Mission never closes. Our doors are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to meet the needs of the community.
Often, the first contact we have with a homeless or needy person is through our dining room. The Mission serves more than 415 meals daily to our residents and to hungry men, women and children in the community.
The Mission provides beds for close to 130 men, women and children every night through our crisis shelters totaling more than 47,500 nights of shelter per year.
50 men and 25 women live at the Mission in our residential long-term Life Recovery Program which empowers them to overcome lifestyles of addiction and destructive behaviors.
Mission residents, as well as low-income families and individuals, receive medical, dental and chiropractic care through the volunteer efforts of professionals at Hope Clinic.
The Mission has an Innovative Education Center to help residents achieve educational goals, such as receiving their GED or pursue college. We also provide vocational training and employment assistance to help the men and women who have completed our recovery program find stable jobs that lead to self-sufficiency.
