Research theme Life Sciences (Utrecht University and UMC Utrecht)

Life Sciences research in Utrecht is diverse. We drive innovations in human and veterinary health care, with careful consideration of our environment. Our research is interdisciplinary by nature and combines fundamental, clinical, translational and applied research from Utrecht University's Faculty of Science, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Medicine (UMC Utrecht). It ranges from molecule to man, from organism to population and from bench to bedside. Our hubs stimulate productive and long lasting interdisciplinary collaborations with public and/or private stakeholders.We focus on three thematic pillars, One Health, Personalised Medicine & Health, and Regenerative Medicine & Stem Cells. Underlying these themes is the Science for Life domain, which seeds the building blocks of life into all of our scientific questions.Our four hubs aim to bring researchers from different disciplines together to work on societal relevant issues and scientific breakthroughs within the framework of our thematic pillars. They stimulate productive and long lasting multidisciplinary collaborations with public and/or private stakeholders thereby creating shared value and, hence, societal and economic benefit
