Power Memorial Academy (PMA) was an all-boys Catholic high school in New York City that operated from 1931 through 1984. It was a basketball and cross country track powerhouse, producing several NBA players including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lewis Alcindor0,] Len Elmore,] Mario Elie, Chris Mullin, NBA referee Dick Bavetta and a record 71-game basketball winning streak. Its 1964 basketball team was named "The #1 High School Team of The Century". Wikipedia. PMA basketball team was also High School National Champions in 1963-64. In 1964 they again played for the national title but lost a close encounter to DeMatha High School of Washington, DC breaking the 71 game winning streak.
