Portsmouth City Council's Employment Learning and Skills (ELS) service supports businesses and residents across Portsmouth and surrounding areas to develop a skilled and inclusive workforce. Funded by a wide range of partnerships including the Education Skills Funding Agency, ESF funded projects and specialist contracts we are dedicated to increasing opportunities for all across our beautiful city and beyond.Our ELS service delivers government funded programmes to support the long term unemployed back into work, supporting employment skills development, work experience and job placements. Working with our most vulnerable residents Portsmouth City Council are proud to have supported over 2500 individuals back to work since 2010.Our Well@Work programme supports individuals and employers experiencing challenges in retaining people in employment due to physical and mental health disabilities and difficulties to overcome those barriers. Our training services offer specialised delivery around employability, supporting adults into Construction through the our Construction Skills Fund and customised training opportunities.ELS is also Portsmouth City Councils Apprenticeships provider for Business Admin, Customer Service and Port Services. Providing a high quality learning experience for the Councils own apprenticeships, we also support local levy paying employers Our specialist Community Learning service provides a wide range of employment and work related activities alongside our personal and social development courses from The Learning Place in Derby Road, North End. Our Family Learning delivers in partnership with schools across the city supporting parents and carers into learning related to their children's personal and educational development. We are proud of our partnerships with Southampton City Council, SEETEC PLUSS, Wheatsheaf, The Good Things Foundation, ESFA and many more, working together to improve lives and employment opportunities.
