Mr J.S. Patel, a chemical engineer himself was hardly aware he was laying a foundation stone for what is today known as Sagar, based in Ahmedabad, India. Sagar is engaged in diverse activities of manufacturing and marketing dye intermediaries, speciality chemicals, fine chemicals, bulk pharmaceuticals and food preservatives. Most of these products are consumed by the developed markets, mainly United States, Europe and some parts of Asia. In early 2000 Sagar ventured into retailing, creating a one of a kind chain of Pharmacy & Wellness stores called 'Planet Health'. Sagar's over 60 years of vivid experience has been nurtured by perpetual improvement in quality, yield optimization, backward integration and setting high standards for prudent business practices. Sagar and its group companies today provides employment to more than 400 people across Gujarat, India.Our vision is fostered by a team of committed people under the leadership of Mr. Rohit J Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, Sagar. Mr. Patel is a Science graduate specializing in chemistry and has a Masters in Business Administration with focus in marketing. Under his leadership Sagar has been a recipient of more than 15 awards from The Government of Gujarat, India and institutions like Chemexcil (Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics Export promotion council) and The Gujarat Dyestuff Manufacturers Association. Mr Patel was awarded with The Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year, 1997 by the Ahmedabad Management Association. Mr Patel has served as President of GDMA (Gujarat Dyestuffs Manufacturer’s Association) 1999-2000, President of AMA (Ahmedabad Management Association) 2011-13, Senior Vice President GCCI ( Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry)2014-15. Mr Patel serves as President of GCCI (Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry) 2015-2016. Mr Patel heads a team of Management graduates, Chemical engineers and Strategic advisors working in areas of Marketing, Research and Development, Process improvement, Materials management and Human Resources.
