Pathways LA

Pathways LA is the single largest non-profit child care and early education resource for low income and vulnerable working families in metro Los Angeles. We provide services for children, families and providers that aim to foster early learning, strengthen low income working families, increase practitioners' competencies, and sustain quality, affordable child care community resources. We believe strong families play a key role in a child’s early development. Investments in early care and education programs help prepare children for success in school and beyond. Pathways’ programs help families find and pay for high quality child care and preschool services, train and support community providers in best practices, and engage parents to support children’s early learning. As a result of Pathways' programs, over 4,000 children through age 12 enroll in child care programs, 2,230 low income working families receive help paying for child care, and over 1,000 early child care providers participate in our educational offerings. Founded in 1978, Pathways is an independent non-profit entity with an annual operating budget of $17m, 66 employees and 3 locations: Koreatown, W. Hollywood and Eagle Rock. Pathways services include: - full or partial child care tuition assistance for children ages 0-12 - online or telephone referrals to help parents find child care or other services - child care business start-up services, and continuing education and support - toddler and preschool services in Pathways’ child development centers in Eagle Rock and W Hollywood - early intervention child care services for children 0-3 with developmental disabilities - early childhood mental health prevention and early intervention services - parenting education, parent advocacy training, and parent involvement services - policy and advocacy activities to promote state and local funding for child care
