NuGen, a UK nuclear company, is a joint venture between Toshiba and ENGIE. NuGen’s Moorside Project aims to develop a new generation nuclear power station, called Moorside Power Station, which will generate up to 3.8GW of low-carbon electricity from a sustainable source, providing up to 3.6GW to the national grid. NuGen recognises that major investment is required in the UK to respond to the dual challenges of securing future energy supplies and achieving reductions in carbon emissions. NuGen believes that nuclear energy has a vital role to play in helping secure the UK’s future energy supplies, and in delivering clean, affordable, low-carbon electricity, as part of a balanced mix.
