When Walter Lundstrom visited the U.S. in 1987 as a Goodwill Ambassador for Sweden and Rotary, he had no idea that he would find the love of his life, Gail. She followed him back to Sweden. Two years later she was homesick and he was in the mood for adventure, so they moved to America. After about a year, Walter was looking for a new job and interviewed with a voice mail company. Walter knew that he would be an asset for the company, but they thought differently and he was not even called in for a second interview. Even though he didn't get the job, he was intrigued by the opportunities with this new technology. He had never heard about voice mail before, knew absolutely nothing about telecommunications or computers, and was obviously not considered good enough to sell it. However, as the true entrepreneur, he decided to learn everything he could and move back to Sweden to start the first Swedish voice mail company. After 12 months Gail, his wife, came up with the idea of starting the company here in Columbus and 10 hours later the decision was made. Even though he had no telecommunication experience, Walter knew how important it was that voice messaging and other call management technologies were tools that most businesses would have to use. Mid-size and large companies would benefit the most because they can afford customized systems that maximize productivity and reflect their company image. In contrast, small businesses would have to get by with generic packages on their phone systems or simple services from their phone company. Walter believed that any small business that wants to stay competitive needs to portray the best possible “picture” to every person that calls their office. In addition, the business owner needs a company that takes care of all the details so they can focus on growing their business. From this evolved No More Phone Tag’s unique selling proposition: “Exactly what you and your customers want!
