NLNG was incorporated as a limited liability company on May 17, 1989, to harness Nigeria's vast natural gas resources and produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for export.
We operate from five offices spread across different locations. We have the liquefaction plant and the bulk of our technical personnel in Bonny Island and Port Harcourt in Rivers State Nigeria. Most of our corporate and administrative staff are based in Port Harcourt at the Corporate Head Office (CHO), Abuja and Lagos, all in Nigeria, and London.
The company has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) Limited, that provides ship chartering and operating services for NLNG. Another wholly-owned subsidiary, Nigeria LNG Ship Manning Limited (NSML) provides personnel for all of NLNG’s Shipping Vessels. Our LNG is delivered to an ever-expanding list of ports in cities around the world.
Our vision is to be "a globally competitive LNG Company, helping to build a better Nigeria."

Joseph Okhakia is the CEO of Nigeria LNG Limited.
Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) was established to harness Nigeria's abundant natural gas resources. The company's primary purpose is to produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for both domestic use and international export. By converting natural gas into LNG, NLNG helps to reduce gas flaring, promote energy security, and contribute to the global energy market.
NLNG provides comprehensive LNG shipping services, which include the transportation of LNG from its production facilities to global markets. The company operates a fleet of specialized LNG carriers designed for the safe and efficient transport of LNG. NLNG ensures that its shipping operations adhere to international safety and environmental standards, thereby maintaining the integrity of the LNG during transit.
NLNG plays a significant role in the Nigerian economy by generating revenue through the export of LNG and NGLs. The company creates job opportunities, both directly and indirectly, and contributes to local and national development through various corporate social responsibility initiatives. Additionally, NLNG's operations help to reduce gas flaring, which has positive environmental impacts, and support the country's energy needs.
NLNG's products, particularly LNG, are utilized across various industries, including power generation, industrial manufacturing, and transportation. The availability of LNG as a cleaner energy source helps industries reduce their carbon footprint and transition to more sustainable energy practices. Additionally, NLNG's NGLs are used in the petrochemical industry for the production of chemicals and plastics.
Using LNG produced by NLNG offers several environmental benefits. LNG is a cleaner-burning fuel compared to coal and oil, resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions when used for power generation and industrial processes. By promoting the use of LNG, NLNG helps to mitigate air pollution and combat climate change. Furthermore, NLNG's commitment to reducing gas flaring contributes to environmental sustainability and the protection of local ecosystems.
Businesses interested in partnering with NLNG for gas supply can initiate discussions by reaching out through the company's official website or contacting their commercial department directly. NLNG typically engages in negotiations based on the specific needs of the business, including volume requirements, delivery schedules, and pricing. The company aims to establish mutually beneficial agreements that support the growth of both NLNG and its partners.
