About NHS Barking and Dagenham
NHS Barking and Dagenham is responsible for improving the health and well-being of local people, and making sure people who live in Barking and Dagenham can get the health care they need.
To do this we commission (buy) services for the community:
* primary care (eg GPs, dentists, pharmacies, optometrists)
* community based health care (eg health visitors, community nurses and therapists, walk-in centres)
* hospital care
* mental health services
* other services (like ambulance services).
We work closely with the local council and other local organisations that provide health and social care locally, to make sure the needs of local people are met.
