New Hope School was incorporated in 1960 by a small group of parents whose children were developmentally disabled and were unable to receive education in the public school system. Through their collaborative efforts, educational and vocational classes were conducted in local churches and storefronts. New Hope School soon evolved into New Hope Center, Inc. and a vast array of services were provided to individuals with developmental disabilities far beyond educational and vocational programming. In July 2016, New Hope Center merged with SouthSTAR Services. Both organizations were championed by courageous parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their hard work and dedication will remain the fabric as we operate under our new name, New Star, Inc.
