Myanmar Football Federation(MFF)

Football was probably the first of the imported to reach Myanmar. When the British finally occupied Myanmar in 1885, the game of football was introduced. The game soon began to gain the interest of the local population.The Football Federation was formed only in 1947. During the years between 1947 and 1950. The only leagues in the developed in regional. The first States and Divisions Football Tournament was held in 1952.Myanmar is one of the fonder member countries of AFC which was founded in 1954. Myanmar Football Federation was affiliated to FIFA in 1952. Myanmar were champions for five consecutive times at South East Asian Games, between 1965 and 1973.During this period, Myanmar also triumphed twice in the football tournament of Asian Games in 1966 and 1970 and finished runners up at the Asian Cup in 1968. Regional competitions like Park’s Cup (Korea President’s Cup), Independent Cup (Indonesia) and Merdeka Tournament (Malaysia) were also dominated by Myanmar during 60’s and 70’s.
