Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) founded in 1932 is nowadays one of the top Russian universities that combines wide experience and strong scientific traditions with innovative process of training professionals in economics, management, statistics, information technology, law and humanities. Appealing to the Russian and Moscow annual ratings, MESI is traditionally among the best educational institutions. On the 11th of March 2015 Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation published an order about the merger of two large Moscow economic universities: Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) was affixed to Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE). It is planned to create a leading research University on the base of two universities in the sphere of economics in Russia. About University ​ Plekhanov Russian University of Economics was founded in 1907. During more than 100-year period, the university has always been closely connected with national economy: development of commerce and technologies of food production in the beginning of XX century, then- formation of commodity science, growth of the cooperative movement, creation of state economic statistics and systems of planning, economic reforms of 1965-1970, macroeconomics and sectoral studies in the 1980s, promotion of market structures formation in 1990s. The University is working to solve fundamental and applied problems of socio-economic and scientific-technological development of Russia.
