Throughout its existence the Research & Development Division has been instrumental to the success of the agricultural sector through its application of science and technology. It has contributed to increased market share of many agricultural commodities including vegetables (eg pumpkin), herbs and spices (eg ginger, onions and hot pepper) grains (eg corn), condiments (eg sorrel), red meat (eg beef and goat), honey production and bee products In many instances the R&DD achieved this through research, development and dissemination/transfer of new varieties, information, technical know – how and training. In addition, the R&DD has contributed towards sustainable use and conservation of natural resources through research and development.
