Metro Transit

Metro Transit is the transportation resource for the Twin Cities, offering an integrated network of buses, light rail and commuter trains as well as resources for those who carpool, vanpool, walk or bike. It added a light-rail link between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul in 2014 and is developing enhanced transitways throughout the region. Metro Transit is an operating division of the Metropolitan Council, and collaborates with federal, state, county and other jurisdictional partners to support its operations and capital programs. About 1/3 of Metro Transit's operating budget is covered by fares and by advertising revenue, the remainder comes from regional, state, federal, county and other sources.
