Mercmarine Group Of Companies represents 5 key business sectors within the Shipping Industry. Namely , Ship Owning , Ship Management , Crew Management , Maritime Training and Agency functions. Group's roots runs back to 1917 where the Ship owning was established as Reederei Eugen Freiderich GmbH KG.Co and the Sri Lankan operations started in 1981 with the formation of Mercantile Shipping PLC. Today the group owns a modern fleet of 6 Multi Purpose Vessels and a Container Vessels trading Worldwide. Mercantile Marine Management is the flagship within the group which is the Crew Management arm of the group and MMM fully owns Mercantile Seamen Training Institute which takes pride in producing the finest Sri Lankan seamen with true seafaring attributes . Currently MMM is the largest manager of Sri Lankan Seafarers while they are also well equipped to provide Myanmar's , Romanian and Polish Officers . Mercmarine also acts as the principal's agents in the Sri Lankan ports .
