MDS Consultants plc, founded by Alan O’Brien circa 1961 was one of the iconic, originating and leading recruitment businesses of that time setting the foundations and business model that is followed operationally to this day across the UK Recruitment landscape. Operating widely across the North West and the UK, engineering recruitment solutions were based on personal relationships and a high degree of attention to detail and one of the earliest members of FRES [now REC] and the first Recruiter to recognise and implement ISO9000 [formerly BS5750]. MDS Consultants was acquired by the Morson Group - another of the great early icons established in 1969 by Gerry Morson and today headed by CEO Ged Morson. This page was set up by a former employee, Stephen Turnock, as tribute to Alan O’Brien and not least as an anchor page to associate ex-employees Linkedin profiles work history to, but also, to pay wider tribute to those early professional recruitment pioneers who gave today's recruiters a great legacy platform upon which to build. Recruiters today would have a lot to thank these original recruitment cornerstones. The early years was very much selling the idea of the temporary contractor engaged under a sub contract, a contract 'for' service [ or also, a sub contract deemed to be 'of' service in some cases]. Indeed though today we operate in the world of connected big data and have a greater technological reach for talent acquisition and means to build skills communities, those early values are now even more prevalent in importance in order to succeed today.
