Make-A-Wish® Arizona is proud to be the state where Make-A-Wish®, the international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded.
Started in 1980 with one Arizona boy’s wish to be a police officer, our Chapter evolved into a dedicated community of volunteers, donors and Arizona families who have worked together to grant more than 6,500 wishes to date.
We continue to be trailblazers, with a goal to grant more wishes in Arizona for Arizona children with critical illnesses each fiscal year. We support the Make-A-Wish mission:
Together, we create life-changing wishes for Arizona children with critical illnesses.

Make-A-Wish® Arizona is a non-profit organization dedicated to granting wishes to children with critical illnesses. Founded in 1980, we aim to provide hope, strength, and joy to these children and their families. Our services include the wish-granting process, which involves identifying a child's wish, planning the logistics, and ensuring a magical experience tailored to the child's desires.
Children between the ages of 2.5 and 18 years old who have been diagnosed with a critical illness are eligible to receive a wish. The illness must be life-threatening, and the child must be under the care of a physician. We encourage families to reach out to us to discuss eligibility and the wish process.
Referring a child for a wish can be done through our website or by contacting our office directly. Parents, guardians, or medical professionals can initiate the referral process. Once a referral is made, our team will reach out to the family to discuss the next steps and gather necessary information about the child's condition and wishes.
Children can request a wide variety of wishes, which generally fall into three main categories: 'I wish to go,' 'I wish to be,' and 'I wish to have.' This can include experiences such as traveling to a dream destination, meeting a favorite celebrity, or receiving a special gift. Each wish is personalized to reflect the child's interests and desires.
There are several ways to support Make-A-Wish® Arizona, including making a financial donation, volunteering your time, or participating in fundraising events. Donations help us cover the costs associated with granting wishes, while volunteers play a vital role in helping with events and wish experiences. You can find more information on how to get involved on our website.
The safety and well-being of the children we serve is our top priority. We work closely with medical professionals and families to ensure that all wishes are safe and appropriate for the child's health condition. Additionally, we adhere to all local health guidelines and regulations, especially during times of public health concerns, to ensure a safe experience for everyone involved.
