Libyan Airlines (LN, Al-Khutut Al-Jawiyah Al-Libiyah) is the national flag carrying Airline of Libya and is based at Tripoli International Airport. The Airline was founded on October 1964 and launched its services in 1965. In 2006 Libyan Arab Airline was reformed to Libyan Airlines. It is a member of IATA, AACO and AFRAA. It operates both scheduled passenger and cargo services to thirty destinations within Libya, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Its fleet consists of ten aircraft with fifteen more on order. The airline recently upgraded a previous (MOU) with Airbus, for the purchase of fifteen new aircraft, four A350s, four A330s and seven A320s. The first A320 will be delivered in September 2010; the A330 will be delivered by the end of 2011. With the arrival of the new Airbus A320 Libyan Airlines will be providing, on-board entertainment and also will be the first airline, in Africa, to provide in-flight connectivity services. According to the CEO, Capt. Mohamed M. Ibsem, “Providing this service will help differentiate us from the competition, and is part of our ongoing drive to constantly improve levels of service for our passengers. Aboard these brand new Libyan Airlines aircraft, our passengers will be able to stay in touch with colleagues, family and friends while they travel.” The Airline is member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization and the International Air Transport Association.
